Bridgestone India Celebrates 30 Years of Growth and Mobility Leadership
Bridgestone India has celebrated 30 years of operations in the country, marking a major milestone in its journey from a new market entrant to one of India's leading tyre manufacturers. The anniversary event brought together government representatives, automotive manufacturers, suppliers and long-standing business partners to recognise the collaborations that have supported the company's growth over the past three decades.
The ceremony was attended by H.E. ONO Keiichi, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to India and the Kingdom of Bhutan, as well as Nobuyuki Tamura, Member of the Board and Representative Executive Officer, EAST CEO of Bridgestone Corporation. Company executives highlighted the importance of strong partnerships, innovation and sustainable business practices as key drivers behind Bridgestone India's continued success.
Bridgestone began operations in India in 1996 before opening its first manufacturing facility in Pithampur, Madhya Pradesh, in 1998. A second production plant followed in Chakan, Pune, in 2013, significantly expanding manufacturing capacity for the Indian market. In 2023, the Pithampur plant produced its 100 millionth tyre, underlining the company's growing manufacturing footprint in one of the world's fastest-growing automotive markets.
Looking ahead, Bridgestone reaffirmed that India will remain a strategic pillar within its global growth plans. The company is continuing preparations for its previously announced passenger car tyre capacity expansion while further strengthening local research and development capabilities. In 2025, Bridgestone established a new Satellite Technology Centre in Pune to accelerate product engineering and develop advanced tyre technologies tailored specifically to Indian driving conditions.
Today, Bridgestone India supplies tyres across passenger car, SUV, commercial vehicle and specialty tyre segments through an extensive manufacturing and distribution network. The company said its future strategy will focus on delivering innovative tyre technologies, responsible manufacturing practices and sustainable mobility solutions while supporting India's rapidly evolving automotive industry.
