Continental Reports Strong First Half of 2026 Amid Strategic Transformation

Continental has reported a solid financial performance for the first half of 2026, supported by strong demand for premium tires and continued operational improvements. The company also confirmed that it is entering the final stage of its strategic transformation into a pure-play tire manufacturer.

During the second quarter, Continental generated sales of €4.41 billion and an adjusted EBIT of €570 million, exceeding market expectations. The adjusted EBIT margin improved to 12.9%, compared with 10.4% in the same period of the previous year. The performance was driven by strong sales of passenger car tires measuring 18 inches and above, favorable raw material prices, lower currency impacts and disciplined cost management.

The company noted that global automotive production remained weak during the first half of the year, while the North American replacement tire market softened slightly. In contrast, the European replacement market showed positive momentum, helping offset weaker demand in other regions.

Continental is also completing one of the most significant restructurings in its history. Following the spin-off of its automotive business and the agreed sale of the ContiTech division, the company is positioning itself as a dedicated global tire manufacturer. CEO Christian Kötz described the current phase as the final step in Continental's strategic realignment.

Despite expecting noticeably higher raw material costs during the second half of the year, Continental reaffirmed its confidence in meeting its full-year targets. The company stated that measures have already been implemented to mitigate the anticipated cost increases and maintain profitability.

For the full year 2026, Continental expects tire business sales of approximately €13.2 billion to €14.2 billion with an adjusted EBIT margin of 13.0% to 14.5%. Group guidance has been updated to reflect the ongoing portfolio transformation following the planned divestments.

With its growing focus on premium tire technologies, operational efficiency and sustainable profitability, Continental continues to strengthen its position as one of the world's leading tire manufacturers while completing its transition into a focused tire company.
