Continental Showcases Next-Generation Tire Technologies for Autonomous Driving at Tire Technology Ex
Continental will open the Tire Technology Expo 2026 with a keynote presentation highlighting innovative tire technologies designed for the next generation of autonomous vehicles. Taking place from March 3–5 in Hanover, Germany, the exhibition brings together leading experts from the global tire industry to discuss the latest advances in tire development and manufacturing.
The opening presentation will be delivered by Dr. Andreas Topp, Head of Platform Development and Industrialization for Passenger Car Tires at Continental. His presentation will focus on tire solutions specifically engineered to meet the unique requirements of automated and autonomous driving. Topics include intelligent tire technologies, optimized solutions for autonomous mobility fleets, and tire concepts tailored to different vehicle applications.
"The future of autonomous driving has already begun. We are developing tire technologies and products that meet the specific technical requirements of these vehicles," said Dr. Andreas Topp.
In addition to autonomous driving, Continental will present research on three other key innovation topics during the conference. One presentation will focus on identifying recovered carbon black (rCB) derived from end-of-life tires and its integration into new rubber compounds, supporting the company's commitment to a more sustainable circular economy.
Another technical session will examine tire wear in relation to the upcoming Euro 7 regulations. Continental's researchers will discuss the factors influencing tire abrasion and explain how future tire designs can help reduce wear while maintaining high levels of safety, performance, and efficiency.
The Tire Technology Expo is Europe's leading exhibition and conference dedicated to tire technology, bringing together manufacturers, suppliers, researchers, and engineers from around the world. Celebrating its 25th anniversary in 2026, the event continues to serve as a major platform for innovations in sustainable materials, intelligent tire systems, and advanced manufacturing technologies.
