Continental introduces CrossContact A/T² for balanced performance on and off the road

  • Developed for SUVs, 4x4 vehicles and pick-ups with diverse usage requirements

  • Distinctive tread design and robust construction for traction and durability

  • Special 4x4 rubber compound for consistent grip under different temperature conditions

Continental is expanding its portfolio of all-terrain tyres and introducing the CrossContact A/T², a new model positioned with a balanced usage spectrum of around 50 percent road and 50 percent off-road. The all-season tyre has been developed for drivers of SUVs, 4x4 vehicles and pick-ups who drive both on paved roads and off the road.

The CrossContact A/T² combines traction, robustness and grip on different surfaces. It is designed for diverse usage conditions, from daily road traffic to off-road applications, including in changing weather conditions across different seasons.

Focus on off-road traction and safe handling on the road

The focus of development was reliable off-road traction combined with safe handling on the road. A deep tread with pronounced gripping edges enables the tyre to penetrate loose surfaces such as mud, sand or gravel and build traction there.

This is supported by TractionPlus technology, which specifically improves traction. The stable design of the tread blocks reduces deformation under load and contributes to precise handling as well as high driving stability.

Robust construction for demanding off-road use

For the mechanical stresses encountered off-road, the CrossContact A/T² is equipped with a reinforced sidewall and a robustly designed shoulder zone. This construction increases resistance to cuts, chipping and damage caused by stones or other obstacles. The stable tread block structure helps reduce the risk of punctures, abrasion and sidewall damage and supports the tyre’s durability in off-road use.

Special rubber compound for consistent grip

Furthermore, the tyre features an all-season compound specially tailored to 4x4 applications, designed for consistent grip under different temperature and usage conditions. It remains elastic even at lower temperatures and offers stable properties on wet and dry roads.

The CrossContact A/T² is available in nine sizes for rim diameters from 15 to 17 inches. It bears the “EV-Compatible” logo on the sidewall and is therefore suitable for SUVs and 4x4 vehicles regardless of their drive type.
