Firestone Liberia Earns ISO 14001 Recertification, Reinforcing Sustainable Natural Rubber Production
Firestone Liberia has successfully achieved recertification to the internationally recognized ISO 14001 Environmental Management System standard for the period 2025–2028, underlining the company's ongoing commitment to environmental stewardship and responsible natural rubber production.
The recertification follows Firestone Liberia's initial ISO 14001 certification in 2022 and confirms that the company continues to meet globally recognized environmental management requirements. ISO 14001 provides a structured framework for organizations to identify environmental impacts, improve resource efficiency, reduce waste, and continuously enhance environmental performance.
According to Firestone Liberia, the achievement reflects years of continuous improvement across its plantation and processing operations. The company highlighted measurable progress in waste management initiatives, environmental education programs, and community engagement activities designed to promote responsible environmental practices both within its operations and across surrounding communities.
A significant contribution to the recertification effort came from the company's Environmental Services Department, led by Dr. Herb Harmon. The department has implemented numerous initiatives focused on waste reduction, environmental awareness, and tree planting programs involving local schools and communities.
