Goodyear Blimp celebrates 101st birthday with unique festival event
The iconic Goodyear Blimp has once again taken center stage in the United States. To celebrate its 101st birthday, Goodyear transformed its historic airship hangar in Akron, Ohio, into a one-of-a-kind festival venue, hosting the second annual "BANGR at the HANGR" event.
Building on the success of its centennial celebrations in 2025, this year's event combined live music, aviation and brand culture in an immersive experience. Guests enjoyed flights aboard the Wingfoot One airship, a live performance by electronic music artist DJ Noizu, exclusive merchandise and an after-party held inside the iconic hangar.
A highlight of the celebration was the appearance of numerous well-known brand and sports mascots, creating a colourful festival atmosphere that reflected the Goodyear Blimp's long-standing role as a cultural icon. Over more than a century, the airship has become a familiar sight above major sporting events, entertainment venues and public celebrations across North America.
The event is part of Goodyear's broader strategy to position the Blimp not only as an aviation landmark but also as a modern lifestyle and entertainment brand. Following its 100th anniversary celebrations in 2025, the company continues to engage younger audiences through social media, influencer collaborations and experiential marketing initiatives.
Originally launched in 1925, the Goodyear Blimp remains one of the world's most recognisable corporate aircraft. Today, the fleet continues to support major sporting events, promotional campaigns and special occasions while serving as one of the company's most enduring brand ambassadors.
