Kumho Tire Delivers Record European Sales and Strong Profit Growth in Q2 2026
Kumho Tire has reported strong financial results for the second quarter of 2026, driven by robust demand for original equipment (OE) and replacement (RE) tyres in North America and Europe. The company generated KRW 1.33 trillion (US$ approximately 970 million) in revenue and KRW 182.2 billion (US$ approximately 133 million) in operating profit, continuing its record-breaking growth trajectory.
Quarterly revenue reached KRW 1.3328 trillion, marking the 11th consecutive quarter in which Kumho Tire recorded sales exceeding KRW 1 trillion. According to the company, the performance was supported by increased OE supply to vehicle manufacturers, higher replacement tyre sales and a growing share of premium, high-value products.
Europe delivered the strongest regional performance. Revenue in the region climbed to a record KRW 420.9 billion, the highest quarterly sales ever achieved by Kumho Tire in Europe. The company attributed the growth to stronger new vehicle production, an expanded distribution network and increased sales of premium and larger-diameter tyres.
Profitability also improved significantly. Operating profit increased 24% compared with the previous quarter, rising from KRW 147.0 billion to KRW 182.2 billion, resulting in an operating margin of 13.7%. Kumho said higher sales volumes in North America and Europe, together with a more profitable product mix, were the main drivers behind the improved earnings performance.
The company's premium product strategy continued to gain momentum during the quarter. Tyres with wheel diameters of 18 inches and above accounted for 47% of total sales, while electric vehicle (EV) tyres represented 25.1% of global original equipment deliveries. Kumho aims to increase the EV tyre share to 30% by the end of 2026 as part of its long-term growth strategy.
Despite ongoing challenges, including higher U.S. import tariffs and geopolitical tensions in the Middle East, Kumho Tire said it remains on track to achieve its 2026 revenue target of KRW 5.1 trillion. The company also continues to invest in expanding its global manufacturing footprint through the construction of its Hampyeong plant in South Korea and a new production facility in Europe, strengthening its manufacturing network across Asia, Europe and North America.
With continued investments in premium products, electric mobility and global production capacity, Kumho Tire believes it is well positioned to further expand its international market presence while maintaining sustainable profitability.
