Liberty Tire Recycling Hosts Florida Legislators for Port St. Lucie Facility Tours

Liberty Tire Recycling recently welcomed members of the Florida Legislature to its Port St. Lucie recycling facility, offering an in-depth look at how end-of-life tires are transformed into valuable raw materials and sustainable products. The visit provided lawmakers with firsthand insight into the importance of tire recycling for environmental protection, infrastructure, and Florida’s circular economy.

During the guided facility tour, legislators observed the complete recycling process, from receiving and sorting scrap tires to separating steel, fiber, and rubber before processing the material into crumb rubber and other recycled products. These materials are ultimately used in applications including playground surfaces, sports fields, landscaping, construction materials, rubberized asphalt, and industrial products.

Liberty Tire Recycling emphasized the company's commitment to sustainability and resource recovery. As North America's largest tire recycler, Liberty processes more than 215 million end-of-life tires annually through its extensive network of collection and processing facilities. The Port St. Lucie operation alone recycled approximately 76,000 tons of tires in 2024, equivalent to around 6.7 million passenger tires, making it one of the company's key facilities.

The visit also highlighted the environmental value of responsible tire recycling. Proper processing prevents illegal tire dumping, reduces landfill waste, recovers steel for reuse, and converts rubber into high-value secondary raw materials that support multiple industries.
