Liberty Tire Recycling Supports Successful Waste Tire Amnesty Event in Washington State
Liberty Tire Recycling has announced the successful completion of a large-scale waste tire amnesty event in Bremerton, Washington, organized in cooperation with the Kitsap County Solid Waste Division and the Washington State Department of Ecology. The initiative provided residents with a free and environmentally responsible way to dispose of end-of-life tires while helping to reduce illegal dumping across the region.
Held on 15–16 June 2026 at the Kitsap County Fairgrounds, the event attracted more than 600 households, each permitted to deliver up to 15 passenger, light truck or motorcycle tires, either with or without rims. Liberty Tire Recycling deployed multiple 53-foot trailers, box trucks and a dedicated team to efficiently collect and transport the tires for recycling.
In total, more than 127 tons of scrap tires were collected during the two-day campaign—an increase compared with approximately 120 tons recovered during the previous year's event. According to the organizers, the strong participation demonstrates the growing public awareness of responsible tire disposal and the continued demand for accessible recycling programs.
Beyond tire collection, Liberty Tire Recycling used the event to educate residents about the environmental risks associated with illegal tire dumping, including fire hazards and mosquito breeding. Visitors also received information about how end-of-life tires are transformed into valuable secondary raw materials, supporting a circular economy through products such as crumb rubber, tire-derived aggregate and other recycled materials.
Building on the success of the Bremerton initiative, Liberty Tire Recycling has already announced another large-scale waste tire amnesty event in Lewis County, Washington, scheduled for September 2026, where organizers expect to collect approximately 250 tons of used tires.
