Michelin Launches First Made-in-India Passenger Car Tyre with Primacy 5

Michelin has launched the Primacy 5, the company's first passenger car tyre to be manufactured in India. The introduction represents a major milestone for Michelin's localisation strategy and reinforces its long-term commitment to one of the world's fastest-growing automotive markets.

The new Primacy 5 has been developed for premium passenger cars and SUVs and is compatible with internal combustion engine (ICE), hybrid and battery-electric vehicles. Michelin says the tyre combines improved safety, ride comfort, durability and energy efficiency to meet the evolving requirements of modern vehicles.

Production takes place at Michelin's manufacturing facility in Tamil Nadu, making the Primacy 5 the first locally produced Michelin passenger car tyre for the Indian market. By expanding domestic manufacturing, the company aims to shorten supply chains, improve product availability and better respond to the growing demand for premium tyres in India.

The Primacy 5 will be offered in 16- to 22-inch sizes, covering a broad range of premium sedans and SUVs. The tyre will be distributed through Michelin's retail network and approximately 800 authorised dealers across India.

India continues to play an increasingly important role in Michelin's global growth strategy. The localisation of passenger car tyre production is expected to strengthen the company's competitiveness while supporting the country's expanding premium vehicle segment and the increasing adoption of electric vehicles.

With the launch of the Primacy 5, Michelin further expands its manufacturing footprint in India and underlines its focus on delivering locally produced, high-performance tyre solutions tailored to regional market requirements.
