Pirelli Develops Bespoke P Zero Tyres for Record-Breaking Porsche Cayenne Electric

Pirelli has developed a new generation of bespoke P Zero tyres for the all-electric Porsche Cayenne, supporting the SUV's record-breaking performance while enhancing efficiency, grip and driving precision. The new tyres were created in close collaboration with Porsche and are tailored specifically to the vehicle's electric drivetrain and dynamic characteristics.

For the Cayenne Electric, Pirelli designed six dedicated tyre fitments, including the latest P Zero, the performance-focused P Zero R, two winter tyres and one All Season tyre. Every fitment features Pirelli Elect technology, which reduces rolling resistance, improves range and optimizes grip for the high torque and increased weight of electric vehicles.

A highlight of the project is the P Zero R, developed for the Porsche Cayenne Electric Turbo, which accelerates from 0–100 km/h in just 2.5 seconds. Pirelli engineers created a dedicated compound inspired by the company's motorsport expertise and the P Zero Trofeo RS to deliver maximum traction, stability and steering precision under extreme acceleration.

The complete tyre portfolio was developed using Pirelli's fully virtual engineering process, allowing engineers to optimise compound formulations, tread design and tyre construction before producing physical prototypes. According to Pirelli, this digital development approach shortens development time while improving accuracy and sustainability.

The collaboration represents another milestone in the long-standing partnership between Pirelli and Porsche and highlights the growing importance of tyre technology in unlocking the full performance potential of next-generation electric vehicles. As EVs continue to deliver higher torque and greater vehicle weight, dedicated tyre development is becoming an increasingly critical element of original equipment engineering.
