Thailand Tyre Manufacturers Association Joins Tire Industry Project as Affiliate Member
The Thailand Automotive Tyre Manufacturers Association (TATMA) has officially joined the Tire Industry Project (TIP) as its ninth Affiliate Member, further strengthening international collaboration on sustainability, environmental research and responsible tyre industry practices.
The new affiliation expands TIP's global network of regional tyre associations and reinforces cooperation between manufacturers, industry organisations and scientific partners. Through the partnership, TATMA will contribute to discussions and initiatives addressing some of the tyre industry's most important environmental and sustainability challenges.
TIP is a CEO-led global initiative representing leading tyre manufacturers responsible for more than 60% of worldwide tyre production. The organisation focuses on independent scientific research, environmental stewardship, circular economy initiatives and the development of industry-wide best practices.
By joining TIP, TATMA gains access to international research projects and collaborative programmes covering topics such as tyre and road wear particles (TRWP), end-of-life tyre management, life-cycle assessment and sustainable material use. The cooperation also enables closer knowledge exchange between Thailand's growing tyre manufacturing sector and global industry leaders.
Thailand has become one of the world's most important tyre manufacturing hubs, supported by its strong natural rubber industry and significant production capacity serving international markets. The country's participation in TIP is expected to further strengthen regional engagement in global sustainability initiatives.
TIP welcomed the new affiliation as another step toward expanding international cooperation across the tyre value chain, emphasizing that addressing environmental and social challenges requires collective action from manufacturers, suppliers, researchers and industry associations worldwide.
The announcement reflects the increasing importance of cross-border collaboration as the global tyre industry accelerates efforts to improve sustainability, transparency and environmental performance.
