Toyo Tires Joins GDSO to Advance Digital Tyre Identification
Toyo Tire Corporation has joined the Global Data Service Organisation for Tyres and Automotive Components (GDSO), marking a significant step in the company's digital transformation strategy. Through its membership, Toyo Tires will contribute to the development of global standards for tyre data, enabling secure digital identification, traceability and seamless information exchange across the entire tyre lifecycle.
As part of the initiative, Toyo Tires is implementing Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology to provide every tyre with a unique digital identity. The company is participating in the development of GDSO's global data platform, creating a comprehensive database covering tyres manufactured and distributed by the Toyo Tire Group. This will improve the efficiency and reliability of information management throughout the tyre industry while enabling standardized data access for manufacturers, fleet operators and service providers.
The digital infrastructure will also support new value-added services, including predictive maintenance, retreading and lifecycle management. By making tyre information available throughout a product's lifespan—from manufacturing and distribution to maintenance and end-of-life recycling—Toyo Tires aims to improve operational efficiency while supporting the transition towards a more circular and sustainable tyre industry.
Joining GDSO aligns with Toyo Tires' broader sustainability strategy, which places digitalisation and environmental responsibility at the centre of future product development. The company believes that standardised tyre data and connected technologies will become essential building blocks for upcoming regulations, including Digital Product Passport initiatives, while also enabling safer, smarter and more transparent mobility services worldwide.
